National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is a U.S. government agency dedicated to the research and preservation of conditions of the oceans, major waterways, and the atmosphere. Founded in 1970, NOAA’s mission is to understand and predict changes in climate, weather, oceans, and coasts, and to conserve and manage coastal and marine ecosystems and resources. NOAA operates across the United States and its territories, with its headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland.
